Is there a way in GIMP to use the regular select tools (or something like them) to select multiple nodes in GIMP, rather than having to shift-click node-per-node?
No, I'm missing them, too.
If not, maybe it would be a good idea to have a "select nodes" checkbox in the select tool options, so you could use them to select any path nodes that fall within the boundary?
Another way how it could work: if in path edit mode the select tools will automatically select nodes (without a checkbox). Modifier keys like Shift and Ctrl could add, remove or intersect selections (like known from the paint mode). I found another proposal at http://gimp-brainstorm.blogspot.de/2009/09/path-context-menu.html, which uses a context menu.
To push this topic a small step forward, you could file an enhancement request in Bugzilla.
@Peter Sikking: is this something you'd accept GUI brainstorm contributions or do you see it as a new feature?
