Thanks for that tip Liam, I've tried 'make clean;./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr', it seems to make no difference, so I will look into libtool.. (I'm running Arch Linux, FWIW) libtool 2.4 is installed (since a few months ago). Gimp reports 1.5.26 (?) I'm trying 2.2.10 now... running 'make clean;git clean -xf;./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr'.. no, same problem as before..
