The way I have implemented it now (and merged to gimp-2-6) is that GIMP
remembers why the dialogs are hidden. So if you hide them using Tab,
then they will stay hidden when the display is iconified and deiconifed
again. You can try the behavior in trunk. It feels just right to me.
Certainly less surprising than the behavior I implemented first.
