It seems that patch-2.6.1.bz2 includes patches for  nonexistent files.
$ LANG=C md5sum -c patch-2.6.1.bz2.md5
patch-2.6.1.bz2: OK
$ bzcat patch-2.6.1.bz2 |patch -p0 --dry-run -f |fgrep 'find' -A4
can't find file to patch at input line 1559
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
