I haven't been clear enough here. GimpPreview as I see it should be able so show exactly the same thing as a Drawable, but with a different scale. For instance, it should be able to show the composited image, with a background layer or whatever. This sort of thing could involve more than just gdkrgb functions, that's why I said this _could_ use more gimp's way of rendering than gtk's. Anyway, this isn't clear in my mind for now.
