I have installed TrueType fonts in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype/, other 
applications use this fonts (OpenOffice).

Is freefont included in gimp or is it an extra package? I have installed the 
packeges an libraries listed on wiki.gimp.org/gimp/GimpFromSource.
