(1) You should use Bugzilla to report such problems.
(2) The text tool is under heavy development and is not advertised and
being fully functional. Use GIMP-1.2 if you need a working text tool.
(3) This is a known bug in Pango, see

The bug report has a patch that fixes the problem.
