Not that I am aware of.

What about this?
1) copy/flatten the image1  to image2
2) gimp-channel-ops-duplicate image2 to image3
3) scale/save image3
4) goto 2

gimp-channel-ops-duplicate is pretty fast and should be as fast as an
undo-step.
