[Gimp-developer] Strange sonames in 1.2.2 vs. 1.2.3

The soname naming scheme appears to have changed in 1.2.3.  Was this
intentional?  I couldn't find any reference in NEWS or the change
log.

     20 Feb 12 19:43 /usr/local/lib/libgimp-1.2.so.0 -> libgimp-1.2.so.0.0.3
 495843 Feb 12 19:43 /usr/local/lib/libgimp-1.2.so.0.0.3
     20 Feb  2 21:09 /usr/local/lib/libgimp-1.2.so.2 -> libgimp-1.2.so.2.0.0
