Another alternative would be for file plugins to offer two APIs - the traditional one and for plugins that can deal with multiple internal files (eg FlashPix, multi-page TIFF, + all your examples) the new API could be offered as well. No too sure of the details here; more thought required. The problem might be with existing file loader plugins that no-one feels like modifying, or that are binary-only. Austin
