The standard version of the developer release (currently 1.1.24) includes
support for German (and many other languages). To enable support, make sure
your language environment variables (LANGUAGE, LC_ALL, LINGUAS and LANG) are
set to your prefered languages (in this case "de") before you run "configure",
if you only want German catalogs installed. To install all catalogs, set those
variables to "C". Once Gimp is compiled, set the "LANGUAGE" variable to "de".
Then launch Gimp and it should be in German! Read ABOUT-NLS (available from
CVS) for more info. (i think this info is right!!).
