A somewhat related question: What should a plug-in do to get
guidelines on an image updated? The gpb plug-in (when saving an image
as a gih (pixmap brush pipe)) adds guidelines to the image, but they
don't show up until you force a redraw of the image.

It also deletes and re-adds the guidelines at new positions as
feedback to the user input in the save dialog, but again this doesn't
show up until you cause a redraw of the image.

The plug-in calls gimp_displays_flush(), but that doesn't help.
