Well, I think that it does have two advantages: you can easily compare
the effects of several scripts on the same string, and that string
contains a reasonable mix of letters (e.g. you could check if anything
strange happens near the descender in the "p").
Hmmm... On the other hand, in order to make the comparison between
scripts even better, maybe I should also change the default font size.
Changing the font itself is not a good idea (many scripts produce much
better logos with their default font because they were designed for
it) but changing the default font size might be good. My goal would
be that a user could try a script with the default values, then switch
to another script and get something that is comparable: same text and
same overall size. Currently, the user has to change the default
values in most scripts in order to be able to compare them
side-by-side. OK, so let's see who likes this new option:
C2b) Change all logo scripts to use "The Gimp" as the default text
and to use a font size such that the resulting images would
have comparable sizes (of course the font size to use for each
script would depend on some features of the default font, which
would not be changed)
