about gimp error when open xcf by different gimp

dear friends:
does the older gimp (such as 2.10.8) can open xcf.bz2 created by newer version (2.10.10)?
I do it and found errors:  

 gimp-2.10: Gimp-Core-WARNING: Failed to deserialize grid parasite: Error parsing internal buffer: unexpected number '1', expected number (float) - fatal parse error

where 24 should be font size. why?
