[..] No offence please but, I think you totally missed the point here. The GIMP manual is not only a text, is part of an application. To make it work, you have to check its syntax, to correct it, to compile it, and if all is done right, the magic F1 key will help you more that simply reading the text. There is no other way. If you would like to concentrate on translation, well, use only the .po files and send those files to someone who can check for their correctness.
