There's no make rule/command to create images.

Workaround/fix:
Edit Makefile.am, creating a shell command to make the missing link:

After
     html/%/index.html: xml/%.xml stylesheets/plainhtml.xsl
add
     <TAB>@test -d html/images || $(LN_S) $(abs_top_srcdir)/images html/

Then run autogen.sh, then pray, then run make.
