More like what error am I *not* getting :-)  I've been trying for nine
weeks now to build GCC and glibc.

I should say, a very helpful email came yesterday and I was pointed at
"scripts/build-many-glibcs.py", which I believe was released with a
fairly recent glibc.  It's not very readable, but it likely contains a
lot of information that I need.  It may be enough, and I will
investigate it before troubling the mailing lists further.
