Unexpected GCOV_PREFIX behavior

Hi,

When running my gcov-enabled application in the build machine, I get the 
gcda files generated *both* in the location specified with GCOV_PREFIX + 
GCOV_PREFIX_STRIP (as intended) and back in the original build location.

Is this an expected behavior?

Using gcov (Ubuntu 4.8.2-19ubuntu1) 4.8.2
