Should that be -Wl,--retain-symbols-file with two dashes not one?

Maybe even -Wl,--retain-symbols-file=.libs/libglib-2.0.exp ?

Also I read this on google:

Jan 31, 2003 ... Presently, if you specify an -export-symbols file,
libtool
converts it into a -Wl,-retain-symbols-file argument to $CC.
This is libtool creating this line.

ok, sorry for the noise

i'm stumped here. the command seems to be correct, although, why the
file type is unknown is beyond me. it's just a flat ascii file with
symbols in it.
