Hi there, I am Jason here and newbie in Linux and OSS stuffs. Recently I tried to install GCC 4.2.0 into my Solaris OS.And I managed to downloaded them and unpack and make configure it. I created an object directory before configure them. I did follow the FAQ of GCC to set the path of --prefix=dirname by settings as:- ../gcc-4.2.0/configure --prefix=$HOME\bin\gcc420\ After the make configure it returned few errors such as :- mkdir /home/student/leehjbingcc420 mkdir: Failed to make directory "/home/student/leehjbingcc420"; Permission denied mkdir /home/student/leehjbingcc420 mkdir: Failed to make directory "/home/student/leehjbingcc420"; Permission denied make[1]: *** [installdirs] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/mount/autofs/home_student/leehj/gccobj' I tried Makeinstall in gccobj folder that created earlier on and the error is still the same as above. I couldnt find either of the BIN folder when i try query ll ~/bin. Any idea how to proceeed from here?I am stuck here and do not know how to proceed to the next stage. Please advise. Thanks. Regards, Jason
