Help installing GCC on to from-scratch system

Hello,

I have created my own deviation of Linux, and I wish to install GCC on to it. However, there is no compiler on my custom Linux system, so how would I go about compiling it? I've tried installing on another system of the same architecture (using --prefix), and copying files to their respective locations, but I wasn't too sure about this and I think I messed up somewhere.

Has anyone got any hints for me?

Thanks,

J
