Sorry. I was not configuring again after setting the variable. Really sorry for my naive behavior. If I am allowed one more question.. after the install when I compile 'hello.cpp' and try to run ./a.out, I get ld.so.1: a.out: fatal: libstdc++.so.6: open failed: No such file or directory Killed Now I added the path to the newly installed lib directory to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and everything works fine. My ony question is that there is another gcc/g++ in /usr/sfw/bin (probably installed with the Solaris distribution), which works fine without any LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting, how come? S
