Problems building on S10

Hi

I can't get 'make bootstrap' to successfully run on Solaris 10 U1. I've 
tried 3.4.5 and 4.0.2, with the same results:

*** Error code 1
The following command caused the error:
r=`${PWDCMD-pwd}`; export r; \
s=`cd ../gcc-4.0.2; ${PWDCMD-pwd}`; export s; \

I've tried building inside a non-NFS-mounted directory as well.. but 
that didn't help.
I'm sure this is an FAQ, but I can't find it..
