I did notice when I try to compile it with --with-cpu=pentium4 (as I usually do with gcc) -- it bombs with this:
make[4]: Entering directory `/usr/obj/gcc' ./xgcc -B./ -B/usr/local/i386-pc-solaris2.10/bin/ -isystem /usr/local/i386-pc-solaris2.10/include -isystem /usr/local/i386-pc-solaris2.10/sys-include -L/usr/obj/gcc/../ld -DIN_GCC -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wold-style-definition -isystem ./include -I. -Iamd64 -I/usr/gcc-4.0.0/gcc -I/usr/gcc-4.0.0/gcc/amd64 -I/usr/gcc-4.0.0/gcc/../include -I/usr/gcc-4.0.0/gcc/../libcpp/include -m64 \ -c /usr/gcc-4.0.0/gcc/config/i386/gmon-sol2.c -o amd64/gmon.o /usr/gcc-4.0.0/gcc/config/i386/gmon-sol2.c:1: error: CPU you selected does not support x86-64 instruction set make[4]: *** [amd64/gmon.o] Error 1
-m64 ??? - this is no 64bit processor here!!
How do I bootstrap gcc 4.0.0 for '--with-cpu=pentium4' default if it tries to use -m64 ?
PS. I am running solaris 10 on x86 pentium4 3.06ghz
