Still, maybe someone here knows of another way to get it. Does this

I have a 17' Powerbook, nothing out of the ordinary. It runs Mac OSX
10.3.9 with the latest Apple Dev Tools. No  odd tweaks if that doesn't
include Fink. My guess is I may be misusing gcc somehow but I have yet
to know why.

Now, using another C compiler sounds like a most interesting
possibility. I'll try this "metrowerks" & let you know how it works.
