Compiling in SUSE 9 with varargs

Guys, I'm needing to compile a group of programs that use varargs under
SUSE Linux 9
But since SUSE 9 comes with GCC 3.3.1 I am unable to.

Do you which version of gcc should I use and where to download the
binaries for SUSE 9?
