Michelle,

In order to build GCC, you must have a C compiler on your system. So, yes, it's kind of like a catch-22 - except that nearly any C compiler should do. If you don't have one on your system, you'll need to try to find a prebuilt binary install of GCC for your system. Depending on what type of system you're using, you chances of finding one are pretty good.

Good luck,
Lyle

Subject: GCC configuration help, please?

What exactly is the name of the file that CC must be
symbolically linked to in order for me to configure
GCC? It says it needs to be linked to a C compiler,
but I thought that's what I was installing, is this
some kind of Catch-22?

Please reply to bela214@xxxxxxxxx if you can help.

Thank you,

-Michelle
