Hi, I'm an LFS user. I built my system some months ago and now I use it as my primary system. I have 2 versions of GCC installed (3.2, with which I compiled most of the software I use, and 3.3.1). The best advice I can give you is to try again. At a minimum, try to recompile GCC from scratch ; ) Sometimes we forget a step, sometimes we don't set up $LFS and use it... I can't tell you whether any version of Debian is suitable for building an LFS system. I compiled mine on Mandrake 9.1 (the buggiest Mandrake release I've ever seen) and I didn't find much trouble along the way. You can also ask for help at the LFS mailing lists. Maybe some LFS user have already built LFS on Debian. Regards Alex
