cgtbegin.o missing

I am getting an error message when trying to compile a program that 
crtbegin.o is missing. I am assuming that I do not have a necessary 
library installed but I can't figure out which one I am missing. Can 
someone help?

Using:
Mandrake 9.1
gcc-3.2.2-3mdk
gcc-c++-3.2.2-3mdk
gcc-cpp-3.2.2-3mdk
