Summary: MSN Connection Problems with Proxy

Initial Comment:
Hi Gaim Team,

I just downloaded 2.0.0Beta3.1 (Win32). Attempting to
log on to MSN at work behind proxy server gives me an
error. Please see debug information below:

account: Connecting to account aaa@xxxxxxxxx
connection: Connecting. gc = 018AC728
msn: new httpconn (018E5590)
dns: DNS Lookup for: [address or proxy server]
msn: C: NS 000: VER 1 MSNP9 MSNP8 CVR0
socks5 proxy: Connecting to
gateway.messenger.hotmail.com:80 via [address or proxy
server]:1080 using SOCKS5
socks5 proxy: Connect would have blocked.
socks5 proxy: Connected.
socks5 proxy: Able to read.
socks5 proxy: Able to read again.
msn: HTTP: Read error
msn: Connection error from Notification server
(messenger.hotmail.com): Reading error
msn: C: NS 000: OUT
account: Disconnecting account 010D3FE8
connection: Disconnecting connection 018AC728
msn: destroy httpconn (018E5590)
connection: Destroying connection 018AC728
util: Writing file accounts.xml to directory
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\.gaim

AIM and Yahoo both work behind the proxy. MSN works
when not behind the proxy.

Any suggestions?

Originally, "Use HTTP Method" was checked. By un-checking
it, the connection could still not be made. Here is the
debug dump that corresponds. I hope it helps.

Did you turn on the 'http method' in the account options for
the MSN account? Does it work better if you turn that off?

I use global proxy settings which work for all other IM
protocols. Specifics of those settings:
SOCKS5
Port 1080
Host: IP Address is entered but I prefer not to publish
No User and Password defined (none needed)
