Summary: accented characters

Initial Comment:
i've been using gaim for some time now, but i still
haven't found a way to input accented characters
without copying and pasting them from other applications
(i use gaim to talk to buddies in mexico, and accents
would be rather useful.)
i don't know if this is the right place to request that
or not....

i'm not really sure that i understand most of what you
wrote... haha, sorry.
i'm using gaim on a pc with windows xp, i was jsut wondering
if there was a patch or certain combination of buttons (like
ctrl + ' then a for an accented letter, as in msn or
microsoft word) or if there's a way i can set that up. it's
not terribly often that i need them, but they'd be a big
help, so maybe the control-shift-hexcode would work, though
i've no idea what that is.
i only need it for spanish, so just the vowels and the
accented n is all i need, nothing fancy like chinese.

this depends alot on your environment. some keymaps include
a "compose" key, such that the sequence compose a would
input an accented a. for chinese or similar environments,
an entirely different input method is often needed.

less useful for frequent users, control-shift-hexcode will
insert the unicode character that is represented by that hex
code.

what sort of system are you on?
