Initial Comment:
How do you send a buzz to someone logged into Yahoo 
messenger?  Is it possible to put the ctrl-g into Gaim to 
send a buzz?

I am running the windows version of Gaim.  I guess it was 
not compiled in for the Windows version.  :(

works for me, gaim 1.2.1 under linux (compiled from src rpm)

you wont see  anything in your client, but the recipient
will be suitably annoyed. assuming they're not using gaim,
if they're using gaim they'll just see the (preferred)
lame-o BUZZ text

The <ding> does not work.  I am using the latest version of 
GIAM v1.2.1
