Hmmm, I haven't noticed a problem running generic/647 on ext4, xfs, f2fs, reiserfs, overlayfs, and vfat. I do see the proposed iomap changes referenced in [1] which is a prereqsuite for [2]. but it appears that most other file systems (both thoes that do and don't use iomap) are able to pass generic/647 even without the iomap changes proposed in [1].
