The important part is to not affect the directory mod time when removing
the file or any other process will re-scan at that time, which causes it
to re-create the UUID file and re-delete it, again adjusting the
directory modification time forever.

If possible, avoiding creation of the UUID file until it is necessary
would be better, but I didn't want to change the order of that wrt
scanning subdirectories.
