Ah, okay. so it should be consistent regardless of what CFF fonts one uses?
I was getting confused so that everyone was complaining about
Cantarell only (ATM at least) and I am/was not quite sure if it's
really a common problem on rendering CFF fonts for them.
If that is true, I'm sure there are nothing we can do in fontconfig
then. otherwise we can but it may needs to be turned on and applied
per fonts.

Is it those two "no-stem-darkening" and "darkening-parameters" right?

the upper layer rendering libraries or applications where uses
FreeType directly if we don't need to manage it per fonts.
