Asian font taking priority over DejaVu for sans serif!!

I assigned Dejavu Sans Condensed for sans serif, and all my desktop
now uses sans serif (Dejavu Sans Condensed in my case). But when I
install a specific Chinese font, all my desktop uses this Chinese font
instead of Dejavu Sans Condensed... If I remove the Chinese font, my
desktop uses Dejavu Sans Condensed again.
Any idea why this font is taking sans serif's place?
Thanks,
