Some XFree86 and Ghostfree fonts broken under Xft

I have found a problem with some fonts not working in Xft enabled applications.
For example the following fonts from XFree and Ghostscript -.

File Fontname + foundry
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/gb16fs.pcf.gz	Fangsong Ti
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/cursor.pcf.gz	cursor
/usr/share/ghostscript/fonts/d050000l.pfb	Dingbats

Do not work.

using fc-cache from XFree 4.3.0 and fc-cache ver 2.2.0 I get the following line
in /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts/fonts.cache-1
"d050000l.pfb" 0
"Dingbats:style=:slant=0:weight=100:index=0:outline=True:scalable=True:charset=\
!!!!# :lang=:fontversion=0""d050000l.pfb" 0

Now upon checking the font it has glyphs for chars 32 through 254 and has a
style of Regular.

Some of the other fonts dont even show up in the various fonts.cache-1 files.

This is extremely annoying - especially when preparing documents in which these
fonts would be useful.

In none Xft enabled applications there is no problem.
