That's great, and I just discovered the fontconfig archives.  You asked
for bugs that people hoped would be fixed.  I found what I think is a
fontconfig/xft2 bug that I didn't see in the archive.

When using mozilla (1.2.1) with xft (2.1) enabled, loading a binary
files crashes mozilla (or any mozilla based browser like galeon).  If
xft2 is disabled, mozilla does not crash.  Eg:

information.  I am not sure how to debug fontconfig other than the
strace given in the debian bug report, but would be happy to try
