known issue with vga text mode (32bit only, 64bit works ok). vga window
at 0xc0000 isn't mapped correctly. Workaround: drive the card in gfx

Unfortunately, both the kernel mode setting and using vesafb cause the X
session to crash on that particular machine. So it is useful to know, but
not that helpful in this particular case.
