Out of interest, what happens if you boot without SMP, either by disabling HT in the bios or giving the hypervisor the "nosmp" boot option? There may be a bad HT scheduling performance problem here; it would be useful to eliminate that possibility. My own boxes are either pure UP or genuine not-just-HT SMP, which may be why I don't see this. --Stephen
