Hi all, Just reaching out to see if I can get this tested by other owners of Dell laptops. It seems the i8k module fails on the current fedora kernels - I believe due to some changes in the way gcc does optimisation. As such, the temperature monitoring, fan control etc provided by i8k doesn't work. Can anyone else with a Dell laptop try i8k and see if they get the following output in dmesg: [ 30.519132] i8k: unable to get SMM Dell signature [ 30.519206] i8k: unable to get SMM BIOS version [ 30.519223] Dell laptop SMM driver v1.14 21/02/2005 Massimo Dal Zotto and that after a 'service start i8k' you see the following in /proc/i8k: $ cat /proc/i8k 1.0 A14 <service tag> 127 163 163 20250 20250 -1 0 I believe the patch I've added to the BZ report will fix the issue - but I want to make sure its not just my system https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=647677 -- Steven Haigh Email: netwiz@xxxxxxxxx Web: http://www.crc.id.au Phone: (03) 9001 6090 - 0412 935 897 Fax: (03) 8338 0299 -- test mailing list test@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test
