Okay, a little follow up.

A reboot seems to have addressed most of the issues (I know I shouldn't
have to reboot, but it did help.

Actually, I take that back.  I did have a slight issue with the
background transparency behind the bottom panel where the Window List
sits, but after trying to adjust the transparency levels I'm seeing
weird transparency issue again.

I've added a small image (I hate doing this, but...) so you can see what
I'm seeing.
