No new kernel was in grub list...  Here is what I got upon having to remove the kernel and kernel-devel.  I then tried to reinstall them,

if you would run:

yum history list kernel

then run

yum history info $the_id_to_the_one_you_installed_before_you_rebooted

and tell me if those warnings are  listed in there, too.
