From what I can tell, that issue has been fixed. I'm running the latest kernel from Rawhide (2.6.31.1-56.fc12) and it works fine.

Plymouth is the component responsible for recording those messages in / var/log/boot.log when the root fs becomes writeable. You should check if plymouthd is running.
