Core Duo, Nvidia 9600gt with Dell 24 inch andNorwood 15 inch LCD:
When the firstboot screen appears, it is apparently spread across
two monitors, even when the Norwood is not powered up. Powering
up the Norwood reveals an untelligible scrambled screen. Cannot
navigate the screens without seeing what is happening.
So I unplugged the second monitor and power cycled the computer.
The firstboot screen now displays properly except for the X cursor
which mostly disappears. The keyboard and mouse are now ignored.
The nouveau X server should default to one screen until told otherwise,
and should not assume the monitors are identical.
