Unless nouveau has screwed up so much (assuming it actually is nouveau)
that the whole system's hung. that happens :)

er, i can't quite remember. he can always try it both ways - nomodeset
will turn it off if on's the current default, nouveau.modeset=1 will
turn it on if off's the current default. try both, see what happens :)

trying to install rawhide with default driver on nvidia ends on black screen. trying with safe video driver, starts gui (without mouse, but that's another story)
