Maybe it's > time to play. It does but only if you're using in-kernel auto-detection to build the arrays which is not recommended for new installations. Afaik, fedora has been using entirely userspace array activation (mdadm from initramfs/rc.sysinit) for several releases now (f8/9 or thereabouts?).
