Trying to get Fedora 11 Preview installed on a Tyan S2885 and I'm
running into this at boot time after updating from rawhide:
MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Boot with
apic=debug and send a report. Then try booting with the 'noapic'
option.
So far I've tried the apic=debug and noapic options with no luck.
Also tried disabling the one APIC option in BIOS (v2.08) and that also
had no effect. The system either kernel panics or just hangs with
just a blinking cursor at the top left of the screen. The first
kernel that installed from the DVD (2.6.29.1-102.fc11.x86_64) runs
with no problems, but 2.6.29.1-111.fc11.x86_64 won't boot at all.
This system has been running on Fedora Core 6 and Fedora 9 without any
issues like this at all. Never got F10 installed on it.
Notice this after upgraded an old Toshiba labtop to F11 preview never
saw this on F10 thou and
the kernel did not panic.
