The modeset should be part of the kernel line, not the initrd line
like this:

  title Fedora (2.6.29.1-68.fc11.i686.PAE)
      root (hd0,0)
      kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.29.1-68.fc11.i686.PAE ro
root=/dev/mapper/vg_jjct60-lv_root rhgb  quiet nomodset
      initrd /initrd-2.6.29.1-68.fc11.i686.PAE.img
