Powersave was originally disabled for this reason, but after reports that it had been fixed, it was re-enabled in the rawhide kernels. However, reports of these problems have resurfaced, at least from Kevin. :) It appears that maybe only some hardware has this problem, so I'm reluctant to throw out all power saving for an odd piece of hardware or two. If you're experiencing the popping problem on this driver - and also if you're not - it'd be great if you could attach the relevant device info (from alsa-info.sh I suppose) to the bug so hopefully we can determine which hardware is affected. It may be possible to disable powersave for just the problematic hardware without disabling it for the driver entirely.
